Colonel Dwight E. Sullivan was guest speaker for the 13th Annual Freedom Ring on July 4, 2008.

Our guest speaker was David M. Lamb, Chief of Staff, Department of Iowa, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War. David lamb and fellow SUVCW members participated in the program and later marched in a parade around the Corydon Square.

The group, all in period dress, included wives as well.

The SUVCW group posed before a statue on the courthouse grounds. The statue, erected in 1919, was the first in the nation to honor veterans of three wars Civil, Spanish American and the World War.

Jan Winslow, WCHS treasurer was MC for the program.

Daniel & Dale Clark talked of progress on the project to restore Dodrill Cemetery, north of Promise City.
