2010 Collections Care For Beginners
The Iowa Museum Association Collections Care for Beginners was at the museum on Monday, April 19, 2010 by Angela Stanford, Curator of Collections/Registrar at Danish Immigrant Museum in Elk Horn, IA. Angela worked at Prairie Trails Museum while attending college.
Participants learned ways to provide basic collections care on a small budget and without professional training during the class, which took place from 10 am - 4 pm.
Discussion topics included: necessary paperwork, procedures for processing new artifacts and for tracking and updating records for existing collections, and how to provide a more stable environment for collection and exhibition spaces.
Angela also provided an introduction to the collections component of the Past Perfect Museum software.
