Wayne County Historical Society Annual Meeting and Banquet 2009
Celebrating Southern Iowa Beauty
The Wayne County Historical Society held their annual meeting and banquet in the 20th Century Gallery of the Prairie Trails Museum at 6:30 p.m. on March 26th, 2009.
There were over 70 in attendance for the annual business meeting and program. The wonderful meal was prepared and catered by Patty Mason, Corydon.
Guest speakers for the evening were Kevin Kness, president of Peoples State Bank in Albia and president of Rathbun Lake Resort, Inc. and John Pasa, Natural Resource Specialist for the Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Rathbun. Mr Pasa told of the history and development of Lake Rathbun. Mr Kness introduced us to the Honey Creek Resort State Park, Iowa's new premier recreational destination that opened in fall of 2008.

Marietta Lord, a talented local artist, donated several of her oil paintings as a fund raiser for the museum.

Some paintings were sold that evening at silent auction. The remaining paintings are on display at Corydon State Bank with the silent auction continuing until May 1.
A crowd of over 70 people enjoyed the banquet and meeting held in the museum's west wing.
