The Heritage Barn

Prairie Trails Museum

The Heritage Barn was built in 2002 to hold the extensive collection of early farm equipment. There are displays of numerous horse drawn farm artifacts and tools used by early settlers.

The collection includes a steam engine and wooden threshing machine exhibit inside the barn and a steam engine and metal thresher outside the barn. The interactive area of the barn is fun for children.

The first Pioneer Festival was held on Oct 5, 2002 with demonstrations of almost forgotten crafts: rope making, butter churning, corn shelling, wood carving, etc. This has continued as an annual event on the first Saturday in October each year.

Be sure to make it for the 8th Annual Pioneer Festival on October 3rd, 2009!
